Reason 9. Utilise Best Practices
Best practice is a method or technique that consistently shows results superior to those achieved with other means. Therefore, it is used as a benchmark.
Developing a sense of collaboration and focus on quality (business improvement) will foster an environment where employees can share best practices with each other providing standardisation across the organisation. A system-wide focus on quality will be established, thus achieving consistent results.
Reason 10. Grow Your Business
Shifting an organisations focus from putting out fires to quality (business improvement), will provide more opportunities for business growth. The organisational capabilities put into place will empower all staff to focus on other aspects of the business. A quality management system is key to business success.
There are some very basic changes that can be made to start focussing on quality and best practice within the business:
1. Document the process. Everyone has to be working from the same system to deliver consistent results.
2. Identify the issues. Make a cultural shift to promote problems being brought up to be resolved. Manage the problems with the quality processes, not the people. Take care to not shoot the messenger advising management of problems they find.
3. Always fix for the customer. It is not what happens but how you deal with it that sticks the most in a customer’s mind. Respond appropriately towards the satisfaction of the customer.
4. Improve the process to reduce the number of mistakes. With a documented process and a culture of understanding and business improvement, it will quickly become clear where further improvements can be made. Because you have it documented, focusing on the next moves you need to make to increase quality can be made and communicated.
